Meeting was held July 14, 2009 at Holton’s Seafood Restaurant in Midway with 29 in attendance. Program was by President Eric Johanson’s daughter, Ms. Samantha Ashdown who spoke on the Crime Beacon Advocacy Program of the Atlantic Judicial Circuit in Liberty and Long Counties and the work done with victims of various crimes. She told of her involvement with these victims as she works with them in the recovery process during their difficult situations. The program was most interesting and worthy of mention. Samantha did a fine job in her presentation and passed out pamphlets and brochures along with her business cards. Everyone enjoyed a great meal and Illustrious Brothers Clyde Griffin, Jim Smith, Jack Hepner informed everyone of the goings on in the Valley and the upcoming events to watch for. Illustrious Brother Albert Nelson announced that the next meeting of the Association would also be held at Holtons on October 13, 2009, adding, “When you find a good place to eat, you stick with it.”

Brother Albert Nelson, 33° received his Fifty Year Pin, Certificate and Apron from the Grand Lodge of Georgia, F&AM on July 2, 2009 at Hinesville Lodge No. 271. The presentation was preceded by a fabulous dinner held in his honor by the members of Hinesville Lodge. It was well attended by friends and guests and many of Brother Nelson’s Masonic Brothers. The presentation was conducted in the Lodge Room by Past Grand Master Clyde E. Griffin, 33°. Brothers Nelson and Griffin reminisced about times gone by and Mrs. Nellie Nelson assisted by placing the 50 year pin on her husband. Brother Griffin presented Brother Nelson with a silver coin and recited the poem, “Fifty Years a Mason” by Past Grand Master Dewey Wolstein. Brother Nelson shared several remarks and thanked all for being present. An enjoyable time was had by all in attendance.
